Sunday June 22, 2008 Greenhome Huddler - Post Your Reviews
A few months ago I came across Greenhome Huddler. It is perhaps one of the best product recommendation sites on the web today for environmentally-conscious products. It combines social networking, blogging, and wikis into a very intuitive and easy-to-use website.
If you have used any green product or are thinking about purchasing one I would definitely give this site a visit first!
The Eco Touch products have received a few reviews so far but we'd love to see some more :)
This past weekend Eco Touch exhibited at Market Square Day in our hometown of Portsmouth, NH. Here are a few snaps from the event, enjoy!

Saturday, May 24, 2008 California Bound
Eco Touch was invited to present this past week in San Mateo California for the 2008 Dow Jones Environmental Ventures Conference. What a great event!
We heard from the experiences of Jeffrey Hollander at Seventh Generation, Dave Duncan Sr. VP R&D Unilever, Neil Hawkins from Dow Chemical, and many others. It was a very energizing event for us, seeing other prominent start-ups helping to change their respective industries. Here are a few which really caught my eye out there...
Climos - Exploring how to remove CO2 from the atmosphere through ocean iron fertilization. Ocean iron fertilization works by improving the efficiency of natural phytoplankton production in the open ocean. Phytoplankton are responsible for approximately half of the world's annual CO2 absorbtion capability.
Organic Mechanics Potting Soil - Premium, peat-free potting soil packed full of worm castings and other super good nutrients for your plants.
Venture Vehicles - Will be releasing a revolutionary, two-passenger, three-wheeled, tilting (articulating) vehicle, powered by a highly fuel efficient hybrid propulsion system that is targeted to deliver over 100 mpg, at over 100 mph, and extremely quick 0 to 60 acceleration.
Wednesday May 14 Eco Touch Sponsors Life Connect International's First 'Waterless' Car Wash
Come joint Life Connect International in Chula Vista, CA for their charity 'waterless' car wash event, sponsored by Eco Touch. The event is being held from 7:00am to 1:00pm at the St. Rose of Lima Church 293 H St. Chula Vista, CA. All proceeds from the event will benefit LCI’s mission of constructing a new breakfast hall in the city of Tijuana, Mexico.
The Children’s Breakfast Hall is just north of what is commonly called “Zona Norte”, Tijuana’s Red Light District. This effort is being established to help bring light to this area of severe poverty, drug use, and dramatic desperation. The combined proceeds of the Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash Event are to help provide a safe place in Hidalgo for the children to come and eat breakfast.
The team just got back from the Green Street Fair last night, what a stellar event! The weather luckily cooperated with us on day two and there was an excellent turnout. Here are a few pics we snapped along the way.

We just got back from Expo West in Anahem, CA yesterday. What an exciting event it was having all the leading natural products companies in one place for three days. We were all happy to have new company like ours to be greeted with such a warm response into the industry. Thanks for everyone stopped by and said hello.
Weather wasn't too shabby while we were out there, 70's...blue sky for all 10 days. It's funny, we actually heard someone say that the winter out in Cali had been 'one of the coldest' in quite awhile. Apparently they have never felt a New England chill before.
Here are a few pics from our trip, enjoy. James D.

Leafgreen.info
A new website called Leafygreen.info which reviews green products contacted us several weeks ago for a sample Eco Touch Waterless Car Washt. Curious, I sent them down a sample for testing. Well the results are in, and Mike over at Leafygreen has posted his thoughts on the product. The review can be found on both the Leafygreen website and in our media section. Anyway, here are a few snaps after using it on his WRX. Check out their site when you have a minute, great stuff on there!

Review in La Car.com
The good folks over at LaCar.com did a review of our Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash product. To see their results, click here.
Came across this video on the YouthNoise GoGreen contest site. It's short, one minute, but does a good job at demonstrating how the traditional soap + bucket wash can adversely impact the environment. Then you'll see the Eco Touch product demonstrated as an alternative, good stuff!
Monday, May 7, 2007 Eco Touch Goes to Boston
Last week I headed down to Boston for some urban car cleaning shots. We bumped into the Hybrid Synergy Drive tour from Toyota. Basically they are touring around with their fleet of cars in major cities. There was also an interactive trailer you could enter, pretty cool.
They were kind enough to let us clean off a few of the cars with Eco Touch. Here's a quick shot cleaning off the lil' Prius.
Sorry, no tips this week as things have been busy. I know a lot of people have been asking for a brochure - keep checking back. It will be downloadable soon. Also, be on the lookout for exciting news in the next month, we have some big announcements...

Commonly Asked Questions
I know there's an F.A.Q. section, but I still receive a lot of questions regarding the Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash + Polish product. I figured it would be helpful for newer folks who are unfamiliar with how our products work. So here they are...
Q) How many washes will I get out of one 22 oz bottle? A) I've estimated 4 - 8 on an average sized sedan which is moderately dirty. Now, this can vary on the size of your car and how dirty it is. Your technique will also determine how many uses you'll get out of one bottle. Check the hints/tips section for suggestions.
Q) Can I re-use the towels? A) Yes, most definitely! You simply need to soak them in a bucket of warm water with dish detergent and then let air dry. I will save a bunch of towels and do them all at once to help reduce water consumption. You can put them in the washing machine, and dryer (low setting). But, from an energy and water savings perspective I choose the first method.
Q) Can I use the product in the winter? A) This depends on how cold your winters get. In NH, I usually won't use it below 40 degrees fahrenheit. Anything above that it works fine.
Q) Can I use the product on my windows? A) Yes. One small spray will work great with a dry microfiber! There is no streaking.
Q) How do you compare to... A) This really comes down to trying our product versus what else it out there. What I can refer you to is the recognition we've received thus far: treehugger.com, zerofootprint.net, ecofriend.org, and a growing list of other eco-minded companies which enjoy our products. Cleaning Up After Our Feathery Friends
Well, one week after that devestating Nor'Easter pounded the seacoast, it definitely feels like spring (finally). With the arrival of warmer temps came the re-emergence of about 20 + birds living in a tree above our driveway. While I have no problem with the birds themselves, it's cleaning up after them which is a pain. Example - Saturday morning I awoke to find my car completely covered in you know what. Here are two of the culprits
Bird droppings can have a severe impact on your car's finish if not removed promptly. If they've been sitting there for awhile, you may notice a stain which lingers even after your remove the surface grime. In hot weather this staining process is accelerated even further which can lead to clear coat damage.
There are a few methods you can use to remove them. First, if the stain looks new, you simply need to wipe clean with a damp microfiber. It should come off easily. If it is somewhat hardened you can spray the eco touch waterless car wash + polish on the spot and let it sit before removing with a microfiber. Another tried and true method is taking hot water in a spray bottle and going at the spot. Let it sit for about 5 minutes before removing.
If you've recently used the eco touch waterless car wash + polish, the stains will be easier to remove. The polymers actually help to create a protective "shield" on top which minimizes any damage. Here are some before and after shots - enjoy!

Is It Spring Yet?
Sorry for the lack of updates over the past week, it hasn't quite felt like Spring up here. I've been wanting to get outside to film some more waterless car wash tips, but with a major storm up here over the next few days, looks like that will have to wait. After checking out a local surf cam, looks like we're in for some serious flooding too. Here's a snap from this morning (usually you'll see all beach, never seen it this high before).
Despite all the precipitation up here looks like New Hampshire is already raising awareness on water sustainability. Yes folks, despite the fact we are surrounded by lakes, rivers and streams our water supply will be an issue in the future. If anyone is interested, here is a link from NPR last week.
If the weather clears up look for some updates later this week. Jim D.

Charity Car Washes
Well, we're almost to that time of year when those charity car washes start popping up alongside the road on Saturday mornings. While they're a great way for groups to raise money, I'm not sure people really know the impact they're having on the environment. Consider this for a moment - washing dozens of cars in a confined area with no water reclaim or recycling in place. I think you know where I'm going with this one...
I've considered putting together a charity car wash kit. The waterless car wash would give your group the flexibility of having the event wherever you choose. If a really dirty car rolled in, you could have a portable pressure washer ready to go and knock off the excess dirt before going ahead with the waterless. Of course, you'd want to pressure wash the car over grass/soil so you're not draining directly to a sewer. Or, lay down a mat to catch the water (think home depot black plastic mat). If anyone out there is interested - feel free to email me so we can discuss.

Where's the Wax?
I had an inquiry yesterday asking why we don't have carnauba wax in our waterless car wash product. Great question! Thought I'd make a quick post about it to help clarify.
Instead of waxes, we opted for polymers to provide the slickness, shine and protection you receive after using the product. The polymers which link together and bond to the surface are right on par with a carnauba wax.
While I'm not a chemist and never will make a claim to be, one thing I found with many of the products containing carnauba wax was that they used a petrochemical to break the wax from its solid into liquid form. The smell and slimy feeling left on my hands after using these products was never appealing either.
Really folks, what it comes down to is trying our waterless car wash product for yourself. Why not play around with a 22 oz. bottle and see what you think? We'd like to help you raise some green with our green eco touch. Good luck!
Monday April 2, 2007 Waterless Car Wash vs. Wheels
We saw some pretty nice weather up here in New Hampshire over the past few days which meant I was outside as usual playing around with some new waterless car wash techniques.
My friend owns a Subaru, and her wheels looked pretty grimy in a few spots, so I wanted to see how our waterless car wash product would compare to one of those wheels cleaners you'd see in an auto store. I found that you had to let the product sit for at least 10 - 20 seconds before removing with a towel. For the really dirty ones I'd suggest using a soft wheel brush to help loosen any brake dust, then wipe off with a cloth. There's a video in the tips section show you exactly how I did it.

Water Restrictions Roll Out Across U.S.
Looks like we're already starting to see water restrictions across parts of the U.S. after drier than normal winter. Both S. Florida and S. California have imposed limitations on outdoor water usage. In fact, a few areas are announcing fines for those who continue to irrigate their lawns or wash their cars…ouch! Looking at the drought monitor, it appears like a large chunk of the U.S. is potentially in for similar problems as we head into summer. Luckily there is still plenty of spring left so we have time for more precipitation (maybe even a snowstorm or two up here in New Hampshire).
So what’s this mean for those of us who don’t live these areas? Well, I’d say get ready, because sooner or later these water-restrictions are bound to come knocking on your door. I find it’s much easier to start water conservation practices today, then one day wake up and realize water is not some unlimited resource.
Here’s a great resource for those of you looking for ways to save some H2O - Water Use it Wisely
Check out our waterless shop for products to help fight against your water restrictions.

What is a Waterless Car Wash?
This is a question I tend to hear a lot. So, for the folks out there who are new to the waterless car wash, I'll briefly explain. Traditionally you're probably used to washing your car with a whole arsenal of tools and products - hose, buckets, soaps, sponges, chamois, etc. The waterless car wash replaces the need for all this. Here is what you need.
Two Microfiber towels (more if your car is dirtier)
You spray the formula onto your vehicle, one panel at a time, and wipe off with a microfiber towel. Seriously, that is it. I can already hear the skeptics so let me address a few questions you might have.
Q: How can you wash a car without using any water? A: Eco touch™ has an exclusive formula consisting of organic light soaps & surfactants. These dissolve much of the harmful dirt on contact while the polymers wrap around it to protect from scratching.
Q: Is Eco Touch™ waterless car wash + polish safe for my car’s paint? A: Yes! Make sure both the microfiber towel and vehicle surface are lubricated with our waterless car wash formula before applying and wiping. Our unique formula ensures that dirt is first encapsulated, and then gently lifted away by a microfiber towel. Please remember not to use the product on excessively dirty cars (caked on mud, dirt, sand).
Q: Can I use your product on my windows? A: Yes, our waterless car wash + polish works on windows with absolutely no streaking. If you are interested in trying these products, my suggestion would be to try a waterless starter kit. They will give you 4 - 8 high quality washes (depending on how dirty your car is) and are a great option for getting started. Another thing I should point out is that all of the products that eco touch makes are non-toxic, biodegradable, and petro-chemical free. Kits start at $19.99
